Sunday Series Continuing Education

New England College of Optometry’s Sunday Series offers professional continuing education on a variety of optometric topics. Each program offers COPE-accredited courses intended to augment clinical skills and promote excellence in patient care.

2018 - 2019 Sunday Series

Our upcoming season will include the following topics.  Additional information and registration information will be available in August.

  • September 23, 2018: Systemic Disease and Case Challenges
    (takes place during Alumni Reunion weekend)
  • December 2, 2018: Retina Grand Rounds

Technology: Advancing the Diagnostic Focus
Technology is changing our everyday lives, but more importantly, the way we deliver eye care. As primary care providers, optometrists must be willing to embrace evolving trends in health care. Keynote speaker Howard Purcell, OD '84 was joined by Tim Petito, OD, and Thomas Wong, OD to address the important elements surrounding implementation of technology into a primary care practice, highlighting the importance of developing new practice management strategies to accommodate the emerging model of comprehensive care.  

Diabetes: Current Concepts
Instructors M Medha N. Munshi, MD, Enrique Caballero, MD, Robert C. Stanton, MD,  Joanna Mitri, MD, MS, and Joan Hill, RD, CDE, LD, tackled topics around diabetes such as New Trends in Diagnosis and Management, Developing and Evolving Therapies, Diabetic Nephropathy Update, Diabetic Retinopathy Update, and Living with Diabetes.
