Dr. Johnson is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Specialty and Advanced Care.
Dr. Johnson is an Instructor in the first year Principles and Practices of Optometry Course. Her clinical areas of expertise are pediatrics and individuals with disabilities. Dr. Johnson currently provides clinical care at a private pediatric practice. Previously, Dr. Johnson was founding director of the New England Eye/Renaissance School Vision Center and was a consulting optometrist at the New England Eye Low Vision Clinic at Perkins. Dr. Johnson’s research interests are in public health, vision and learning, and alternate models for delivering eye care to children. She has been an investigator in a number of multicenter studies and is currently working on a number of local and state-wide community initiatives to advance children’s vision care.
Dr. Johnson earned a doctor of optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in 2006. She completed a pediatric optometry residency at the College and received the Vistakon Terrance Ingraham Pediatric Optometry Residency Award. She is an active member of the American Public Health Association and the American Academy of Optometry. In 2006, she was recognized as part of “The Next Generation of Optometry Leadership” by Vision Monday magazine and has been awarded the Dupuis Pellerin Award for Faculty Excellence and Award for Teaching Excellence at NECO.
