Students participated career development workshops at the Career Symposium.
New England College of Optometry hosted the 2018 Career Symposium and AOSA Trade Expo for students and alumni on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Over 50 alumni and more than 200 NECO students and faculty participated in the day long event. “There was an amazing synergy throughout the College, the gathering of students, residents, alumni, and corporate partners met our expectations of an outstanding day,” explained Margery Warren, Director of Alumni Relations, as participants shared career advice, opportunities and networking.
Sponsored by Institutional Advancement, Student Services, the American Optometric Student Association, and Student Council, the event offered an agenda filled with opportunities for professional development, career insights, and networking.
To kick off the program, NECO alumni enjoyed a complimentary continuing education lecture on Telemedicine, delivered by Dr. Tony Cavallerano. Students spent the morning rotating through one hour workshops: Ace Your Interview by Victoria LoCascio, Social Media Branding by David Pride, and Resume and CV Writing by Kelley M. Dadah. During lunch, students, residents, and alumni enjoyed an Italian buffet and welcomed the occasion for informal networking and practice discussions.
Over 15 industry vendors representing the latest in technical equipment, products and optical services were staged as a trade exhibition courtesy of NECO’s AOSA. Attendees were drawn to the hands-on optical equipment demonstrations and pharmaceutical presentations. Additionally, the numerous raffle prizes donated by the exhibiting companies we highly anticipated and appreciated.
