New England College of Optometry is located in the historic Back Bay neighborhood in downtown Boston.
Our main campus is located at 424 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02115 in Boston's Back Bay near the Charles River. The NECO Clinical Training Center is located nearby at 930 Commonwealth Avenue. One of our flagship clinic locations, NECO Center for Eye Care, is also located at 930 Commonwealth Avenue. The other location is in Roslindale, another neighborhood of Boston. A shuttle runs periodically during the weekdays from our 424 Beacon Street Campus to the CTC and NECO Center for Eye Care Commonwealth.
In addition to our primary campus location at 424 Beacon Street and our clinic locations 930 Commonwealth Avenue and 4199 Washington Street in Boston, our students also have the opportunity to participate in clinical placements throughout the Boston area. In this way the Greater Boston area is a part of our campus as students do placements in the NECO Clinical Network. During their fourth year, students participate in rotations in the Boston area, throughout the US, and in international locations in Canada, China, and the United Kingdom.
The NECO Clinical Network is the patient care and clinical education subsidiary of the New England College of Optometry, established in 1973. In addition to our two comprehensive vision centers at Commonwealth and Roslindale, the NECO Clinical Network includes specialized locations for individuals with disabilities (such as New England Eye SEMA), and a series of clinical affiliates and community partnerships. With access to more than 150 clinics and 200 schools in the greater Boston area and beyond, students do clinical work in a variety of different settings in the different communities/neighborhoods of Boston, private practices, over 45 community health centers, eye clinics, hospitals, specialized clinics, and school-based programs. Our optometrists and students make a difference in the community, as well as in the lives of individuals with disabilities, older adults, homeless, and children from varied cultures and backgrounds.
